What is the difference between Qualitative and Quantitative?

Qualitative and Quantitative are two categories under which the various properties of items can be grouped into. In other words, the various properties of an item can be described either in a quantitative or qualitative way. Qualitative means the various qualities that can be attributed to a particular object. This talks in relation to the properties and the attributes that can be noticed in an object. These qualities cannot be measured or graded. For example, words that can be used to qualify something are; dark, beautiful, boring, wonderful, great, fascinating, useless.

Quantitative, on the other hand, refers to the observed properties of an object which can be measured. In other words, it refers to the quantity of an object which can be measured. Under quantitative, words that show the magnitude of an object is used. For example, words that can be used to quantify something are large, big, small, short, far, light, near, heavy, etc.

Quantitative means the quantity of an object or a person. A quantity is something that can be calculated or measured. It can be the calculation of almost anything such as height, weight, size, length, etc., and quantitative is objective. It is something that can only be measured, but it cannot be experienced. Quantitative terms are utilized in scientific procedures that include objects.

Quality is an attribute that a person or an object possesses, and is used to describe the object or the person. Qualitative is subjective, and it is something that cannot be measured and can only be encountered. Qualitative terms are utilized in forms of appreciation, such as poetry, literature, and music. It is said that qualitative is a term connected with creativity, whereas quantitative is a term linked with anything practical.

Whenever you have written a study, you may have to write in a qualitative or quantitative form. This means how you present the information or data. Qualitative means that it is written or explained using evidence. Quantitative means that it is in number form. If you are doing a quantitative study, then you may be presenting your information in a table or graph because this would show the comparison of numbers.

If you are doing a qualitative study, then you are presenting information through explanation and proof. It may seem that both help the study, but the main way to know how to write would be through the type of study that is being conducted. Once that is determined, then the author can determine if they want it to use qualitative or quantitative information.
