Neutral is a unique type of connection from the transformer, to the substation and finally to different houses during electricity distribution. The neutral line is needed during power distribution to bridge the gap of the imbalances in the electrical loads of the three-phase system. The neutral line will also be paired with the line that is bringing power into your house. Most of the time, the neutral line does not contain any current, but at times it may also carry an electrical load, especially when the electrical loads of other lines with current are not balanced.

Ground, on the other hand, has the same function as neutral but in another way round. The ground is the kind of connection you make with the ground so that current will be transferred to the ground to prevent devices and other appliances as well as people living in a room from electric shock. It also prevents the activation of electrical connection during lightening. However, the ground does not contain electrical load like neutral.
