The words "between" and "among" are both prepositions which some people do confuse for themselves. Though they are both prepositions, and they are used to compare items. The prepositions cannot be used with only one item. But basically, between is used in comparing two items, but it can be wrong to use to compare three items. On the other hand, when it comes to the usage of among, it is used to compare three or more items.
For example, you can say "kindly pick the pizza in the kitchen and share it between you and your brother," and you can use among as "kindly pick the pizza in the kitchen and share it among the three brothers." Between can also be used to compare distinct or individual items though more than two contents. For example, "between hip-hop, salsa, and reggae beat, my favorite is the hip-hop style." It can also be used to compare two compound nouns together also.
