Listening and hearing are two words that sound so much alike, but when you check their meaning, they are slightly different from each other. Listening is the process of paying attention to a sound or speech. As these sounds are coming, you quickly understand them and differentiate properly. Hearing, on the other hand, is one of the five senses of human beings. It means the act of recognizing sounds and receiving the sound vibration through your ear. Hearing does not translate to total assimilation of what you are being told.
At times, you might be hearing different kinds of things at a time, and since you can't process all at the same time, those sounds become noise. While you can be hearing things unconsciously, listening has to do with a conscious mind to properly select what to understand, and you are giving it your total concentration. Hearing things is majorly through the ear, but when you are listening to something, you are using both your ears and the brain
