Signs are properties of the body that indicate disease and, unlike a symptom, is unlikely to be noticed by the patient. The signs of sickness are mostly seen by doctors. Most times, doctors rely on this when diagnosing patients so that necessary medications can be prescribed. Symptoms, on the other hand, can be defined as a signal, or what a patient is experiencing, which indicates the presence of a disease or disorder. While signs are noticed and seen by the doctors, symptoms are what is being felt by the patients.
For example, a patient might be experiencing tiredness, fever, shivering, vomiting, nausea, etc., all these are symptoms, whereas things like high temperature, wound, high or low blood pressure, etc., are the various signs a doctor will notice about the patient. Symptoms are what the patients will first experience before coming to the doctor. While signs are a physical manifestation of the disease, and it can be felt by another person, symptoms can only be felt by the carrier of the disease.
