Motherboard simply means the primary circuit board of a personal computer, containing the circuitry for the central processing unit, keyboard, mouse and monitor, together with slots for other devices. The motherboard is so important in the computer system not only because it provides mechanical supports for different components in the system, but because it also provides electrical supports for all the components. AMD and Intel are two types of motherboards.

The major difference between them is that you can only use the right processor for each of them. Meaning, Intel motherboard will not support AMD processor, an AMD motherboard will not support Intel processor. This incompatibility cannot be unconnected to the fact that both Intel and AMD companies are rivals. And as a result, both companies, in a bid to be different from each other, create the processor differences. Apart from this simple difference, both AMD and Intel are more or less the same
