There are these two words in English that are quite similar in meaning, which is pain and hurt. These two words are both used in the context of an unpleasant state of the body or mind (emotions). Pain and hurt can both be used as a noun; bit pain is more used as a noun in sentences. Likewise, they can also be used as a verb, but the hurt is often used as a verb compared to pain. Hurt maintains its form for the past and past participle tense of the word, while "ed" is added to pain to give us "pained."
