What are the major reasons for water crisis?

Water scarcity has now become a major issue facing people in some parts of the world, even with the fact that 70 percent of the earth surface is covered by water. Although, the earth is surrounded by water but little percentage of it is drinkable, the rest contains too much of salt. Even at this, people still find it difficult to have a direct access to drinkable water, this is because most sources of water are already contaminated. There is water crisis because of some major reasons.

First of all, pollution has been considered to be the major cause of water crisis. Due to the activities of big industrial, factories and some other chemical activities, most sources of water have become polluted because of the deposition of wastes in the water bodies. Another reason is water wastage. Most people do not how to conserve water, they use it as they like just because they have it in abundance. Drought can also cause water crisis. This happens mostly during dry season in some countries.
