LDAP stands for Lightweight Directory Access Protocol. This is known to be a type of application that is used to modify some items that can be found in different directory service providers. Active Directory is known to be a directory service provider. Take note that Active Directory can only be used for different Windows-powered devices, apps, and software.

There is a need for people to have a Microsoft Account before they are able to access this. LDAP is known to work better for the Linux environment. Device management is different for both types of directories. Organizations and companies will need to consider the differences between the two if they plan on using this for their business and work environment.
