Eid al Adha is the larger of the two holidays as Adha is a celebration of the sacrifice of Ibrahim’s son to Allah. It is a demonstration to God of our willingness to sacrifice for him. It lasts for five days, and during the celebration, some will sacrifice a cow, sheep or goat and then have a big dinner with their family.
Many times, the leftovers are given to the poor or families who do not have enough to eat during the holiday. Eid al Fitr begins right after Ramadan, and Eid al Fitr denotes the festival of breaking the fast. It involves morning prayers, family, and presents, and it lasts for three days.
