WWAN and WLAN are both forms of wireless networks which provide connectivity on the run. So far one is within range, the network can be connected to, and services like email, internet connection, file storage, and more can be accessed. The major difference between WWAN and WLAN is their extent of coverage. WLAN is an acronym for Wireless Local Area Network which covers just little area like an office or a home. When it comes to WWAN, this refers to Wireless Wide Area Network, which can cover a very large area, it can range from home to the whole town.

Because of the difference in their levels of coverage, WWAN cannot make use of the technologies of WLAN. As WLAN can use technologies like Wi-Fi, which can but just connect within a short-range, WWAN makes us of mobile telecommunication networks technologies to create their connections. This also makes WWAN implement better security protocols than WLAN.

If you want to use your computer and get on the internet without having to hook it up to the router or modem, then you will need a wireless network. There are two different kinds of wireless networks. They are WWAN and WLAN. WLAN stands for Wireless Local Area Network, and WWAN stands for the Wireless Wide Area Network.

Sometimes when you are using your computer, and you move around the house, or even outside, your wireless network may not stretch that far. It just depends upon the type of network you have. The most significant difference between WLAN and WWAN is how much they cover. WWAN covers further than WLAN because WWAN covers a wide area and WLAN covers only a local area.
