There are a lot of people who are arguing about the differences between art and design. Art and design are different from each other because the intent behind what is being done will determine which is which. For example, when you say art, this means that the person would like to unleash his/her creative side.

Art means that you would like to ask a question through what you create. When you create a design, you are providing a solution to all of your issues. Art is always open for debate because people may like it or not. They may also question if something is truly good or not. You can usually make a conclusion when you create or see a design.

Experts of art are called artists, whereas the designer is someone who happens to be an expert of design. Art is meant to bring out something new from the audience or the observer. It seeks to build a connection between the artist and his audience. Designs are proposed to make the audience realize things about something already present or existing.

A design may be geared toward buying a product or item, hire particular services, or go to a specific landmark. Designs are only useful if they can accomplish their objective, as stated. Art is different from design in the sense that it seeks interpretation from the audience, as opposed to seeking understanding. Design is the opposite. It is not meant to be implied but understood.

Art and design are both creators that create visual compositions. One of the main differences between them is how the creation is started. Art begins with a blank canvas and it comes from within the artist. A feeling or an opinion would have led the artist to create the work.

Art is emotional and allows the viewer to interpret it in their own way, relating it to their own feelings and opinions. Design is meant to be understood in a one dimensional way. It uses something that has already been made ang gives a new light to it. Design has a motivational purpose.
