CVVA and TIA are both abbreviations for types of strokes. CVA stands for the cerebrovascular accident, and TIA stands for the transient ischemic attack. CVAs are brain strokes, while TIAs are regarded as mini-strokes. CVAs are more dangerous and are considered emergencies.
This is because as the stroke occurs, the brain tissues are dying. If they continue to die with no medical attention, the patient can become paralyzed or die. TIAs are less dangerous because they result in a temporary unconscious state due to the oxygen delivery to the brain being interrupted. To treat a CVA, a patient will need drugs, blood thinners, and rehab. To treat TIAs, the patient will need to rest.
