Acetic Acid and Glacial Acetic Acid are two types of organic acids that share some similarities as well as a wide range of differences. Acetic acid belongs to the alkanoic family, and it has the molecular formula of CH3COOH, it can as well be called ethanoic acid. Acetic acid can be used for a lot of chemical processes, and most importantly, it can be used in the preparation of other members of another homologous series. It is a colorless liquid, and it has a sour taste, and it dissolves readily in water.
Glacial acetic acid, on the other hand, is an anhydrous acetic acid. It is called glacial acetic acid because it forms ice like crystals with temperate below 16.7°C. Acetic acid, on the other hand, does not form ice-like crystals. Another difference is that glacial acetic acid does not occur naturally, but acetic acid can be extracted from plant and animal
