One of the most pertinent things to always take note in the brake system of a car is the brake fluids. You should also know that without brake fluids, the brake system of a vehicle might not work efficiently, and they need to be changed periodically. Two examples of brake fluids are DOT 3 and DOT 4 Brake Fluids. The two cases of brake fluids are used for the same purpose, but you will still notice some differences between them, particularly those substances that make up the contents. DOT 3 is one of the most commonly used brake fluids.

It is a non-silicone made brake fluid, and it is made from the polyglycol compound which is hygroscopic. Its hygroscopic nature makes it be a good water absorber. DOT 4 is also made from the same substance as DOT 3. The first difference is that DOT 4 has more viscosity than DOT 4, and due to its viscosity, it shows high tolerance to high temperature. Also, DOT 4 is more efficient than DOT 3 because DOT 3 can absorb more water than DOT 4.
