What is the difference between Pinterest and Tumblr?

Pinterest is a link-sharing site, and Tumblr is a microblogging site. Pinterest has a multiple-column format, while Tumblr has a linear format. Pinterest lets you link pictures online while Tumblr does not have that format.

Pinterest can automatically specify the source of the image, while Tumblr cannot. In Tumblr, all the content you post is uploaded manually, and this can be a rather daunting and tedious task compared to Pinterest, which allows you to quickly achieve the same thing by directly linking the image you found. Pinterest then does the rest.
