A person who is kind is known to be someone who will be willing to go out of her way in order to help someone who is in need. The person knows that someone needs her help so she would make an effort to provide the person with kindness. Compassion means that you feel strongly towards people who are in need or are in distress.
For example, there are people who may watch court cases and even if they know that the person on the stand is an offender or a criminal, they still cannot help but feel compassion when they know how much the person has suffered. These two are nice traits that can make the world a better place as long as they are not abused.
A person who is feeling kind may feel sorry for something that the person is going through but will not necessarily start to reflect the feelings that the other person is going through. Someone who is feeling compassion would start to feel the same feeling that the other person is feeling.
There are instances when you can be kind and do something for other people but it would take true compassion to make you willing to do what you have to do. It is always important to show kindness and compassion to other people. Doing these things can be done for free and would just require goodwill and natural goodness that may be innate in a person.
