Some people may assume that mountains and hills are the same mainly because they are both natural landforms. There are some differences between the two such as the fact that the hill is considered to be a “bump” while the mountain is considered to be created because of faulting.

A lot of the mountains usually have a peak and they are often called with names while it is not common for hills to be named one by one especially if they are all in one area. The top portion of mountains and hills are also different. Hills will usually come with more rounded tops while mountains will have top portions that are sharper and more defined.

A mountain and a hill look different when you look at them. The mountain usually has a more rounded top portion while the mountain will sometimes have an uneven top portion. At times, the top portion can even be very pointed. The mountain usually has a peak that can be hard to reach depending on how high the mountain is.

Some mountains are so high that there isn’t enough oxygen that is available anymore. Hills seem to be very small as compared to mountains. It will be hard to look for hills that come with individuals names, but it is not entirely uncommon for the different mountains to be named differently. Some are named depending on who discovered them.
