The ego and id are terms that are coined by Freud in order to describe how he believes that the mind works. The id is known to be the more primitive part of the brain. This is in charge of all the sexual and hidden desires of people as well as hidden and repressed memories that the mind is still trying to forget. The ego is the part of the brain that is considered to be the realist.
This is in charge of balancing the id and the super-ego, the part of the brain that acts as the moral conscience. The more developed a person’s ego is, the better he would be in balancing work and pleasure because he knows that in order to get pleasure, there is a need to work first.
