The EMT stands for the Emergency Medical Technicians, while EMS means the Emergency Medical Services. The two serves as an emergency medical service provider. EMS is primarily the services provided for patients outside the hospital who need to be transferred to another hospital for a better or more individual and severe treatment. The medical services offered are of different levels, which are traditional health care professions, advanced life support, essential life support, and intermediate life support in some cases.

The EMTs are also referred to as ambulance technicians, and in which they operate at different levels depending on the kind of life support to be provided. The stages are Certified First Responder, EMT-Basic, EMT-Intermediate, EMT-Critical care, EMT-Paramedic. In emergency occurrences, the EMTs first show up at the scene and provide first aid to a patient that cannot be transported to a nearby hospital immediately. EMTs give more concentration essential life support, while the EMS offers a wide range of life support.
