India is a country that practices a parliamentary system of government. This parliamentary system of government makes provision for the establishment of the office of the president and the office of the Prime Minister. These are two highest offices in India, however, the president of India is not the same as the Prime Minister. The president is the first citizen in a country, he/she is the commander in chief of all the Armed Forces in India, and the president is elected only by the members of the parliament house.

Every bill passed in the parliament can only be signed into law by the president. Prime Minister, on the other hand, is selected from the party in power, the person is going to be the chief adviser to the president on most government activities. After the office of the president, the office of the Prime Minister is considered to be the most powerful in India
