In English grammar, many people confuse the pronouns “who” and “whom.” A lot of time, they don’t know when to use them. The same can be said for “whoever” and “whomever.” However, there is a general rule regarding the use of these words. The rule is that “who” can be used when you can replace it with he and the sentence make sense.
For example, in the sentence: Whoever wants to go to the store, come and see me. Whoever can be replaced with “he” and the sentence sounds good. That is because “who” is a subject word and “whom” is an object word. The word “whom” can be replaced with “him” and if the sentence sounds right, then “whom” should be used.
