If you suffer from anxiety or panic attacks, then you may be prescribed medication by your doctor as well as other activities that you should do to alleviate the likelihood of getting these attacks. There are two prescription drugs that you can get by prescription only that help with this. They are Klonopin or clonazepam and Ativan or lorazepam.

One main difference between these two drugs is that Klonopin is administered in order to control seizures and help stop the panic attacks, whereas Ativan is only known to help you relax. It is not made to stop anything. Also, Klonopin is administered to a patient for long-term reasons, whereas Ativan is used only in short term cases. Ativan can cause confusion.
