Canola oil is made from the seed of any of the several kinds of rape plants belonging to the mustard family. Olive oil is extracted from olives. It comes from the fruit of the olive tree. Olive oil is usually pressed cold to preserve the natural nutrients in the extract, while canola oil is processed and purified at high temperatures, often involving hexane and other chemicals.
Other uses for canola oil include cooking and biodiesel. Olive oil can be used for food, skin care, hair care, medicines, and religious practices in some regions.
