There are some subtle differences between data and information. Data are the facts of details from which data is obtained. Individual pieces of data by itself is not significant. Knowledge is, on the other hand, vital all by itself. Observations and recording are done to amass data, while analysis is gathered to obtain information.
Data can be measured as a representation of facts, concepts, and instructions in a formalized manner, which should be appropriate for communication, interpretation, or processing by a human or an electronic machine. Information is organized or classified data on which decisions or actions are based.
