There are some people who cannot help but become confused with the differences between a gorge and canyon. What is the main difference between the two anyway? The gorge is known to be a deep ravine wherein the river flows. A canyon is known to be a valley that comes with some steep sides.

The Grand Canyon is actually considered to be a type of gorge because of its connection to the river. It is actually the river that made the canyon look that way. Without the river, then people may not have The Grand Canyon that people just love to look at and enjoy. Usually, the rock goes through changes so that it can be molded by the water.
