What is the difference between ISDN and PSTN?

PSTN stands for “Public Switched Telephone Network.” Small organizations mostly use PSTN. The signals of PSTN are analog from the exchange to the final user; they are also used primarily as single lines. It is delivered to the premises through pairs of coppers wires that are twisted.

It is built o carry voice communication through a network. ISDN stands for “Integrated Services Digital Network.” The lines of ISDN are digital. ISDN is shared among large businesses. It can deliver a minimum of two connections over a single line. ISDN can carry both voice and data at the same.

The meanings of the two are different PSTN means Public Switched Telephone Network while ISDN means Integrated Services Digital Network. One of the main differences is that PSTN is still made with analog lines, while the ones that are made in ISDN are already digital. If you would compare the two, it is obvious that the ISDN will provide better voice quality as compared to the PSTN.

Some people would like to use PSTN because this is the old version, but if they want better services, it is obvious that ISDN will be their main choice. Voice and data services are more improved with the ISDN.
