What is the difference between VCD and SVCD?

Although VCD and SVCD use the same compact disc, they have similar features. They are used to save videos, music, and images. However, VCD and SVCD are not the same. VCD stands for Video Compact Disc. VCD uses MPEG 1; it can take an estimate of 1-hour video.

SVCD stands for Super Video Compact Disc it provides better video quality when compared with VCD. SVCD uses MPEG2. Due to the high resolution, SVCD can only take about 35 to 45 minutes of video. They are many other features available on SVCD that are not present on VCD.

The VCD is known as Video Compact Disc. While SVCD means Super Video CD, they are somewhat similar to each other, but the main difference is that the SVCD can offer greater video quality as compared to the VCD. The type of video that the SVCD offers is different.

It uses MPEG-2 video, and this is not something that you will see in the VCD. When it comes to their uses, they are very similar to each other. You can save images, songs, and movies easily on the videos as long as you have a CD burner. It is only the quality of the video that can be placed on the CD that will differ a bit.
