The differences between cafes and restaurants have narrowed down greatly, primarily, a café remains a place to be served different types of coffees while a restaurant is a commercial establishment where meals are served. While the ambiance of a restaurant is that of a dining place and more formal, the ambiance of a café is that of a casual eating place. For more info, click here to know more.

For many, café and restaurant are the same, but in actual sense, there are not. A café is a place that sells coffee and most times, other non-alcoholic beverages. It also makes available simple means and snacks. A café usually has a facility for customers to consume what they have purchased on the premises.
On the other hand, a restaurant is an eating establishment where meals are served, usually by waiters at the tables or sometimes, as seen in fast-food restaurants, food can be purchased from the counter. I hope you find this information helpful.
People find cafes and restaurants the same. Some might say they are going to a cafe but in reality, it is a restaurant they are going and vice versa. A cafe, as the name suggests, is more on serving different types of coffees while a restaurant serves meals.
If you are looking for a more formal place to eat out with your loved one or colleagues, you should go to a restaurant rather in a cafe. A cafe has a casual vibe and ambiance than a restaurant. Burgers and sandwiches are mostly served in a cafe than in a restaurant but you can expect to eat a full-course meal in the latter. Most cafes are self-service but in a restaurant, waiters are present to take your orders.
