Rum may usually start as somewhat light-colored but the more that it is aged, the more that its color will change. Rum that has not been aged very long is often called golden. Some rums may be darker in color because of the ingredients that have been added to it. For example, if rum is mixed with caramel, the color will likely be dark. Those that are light colored will be considered pure and will not have any spices or flavoring to alter its taste.
It would depend on people’s preference, which one they would like to drink more. Some people who are not used to the feeling of white rum may try to alter the taste of rum on their own.
