Growing up, my dad was my first and only friend. To this day, he is still my best friend. Growing up, we did a lot of things together, but the one memory that sticks out is when he took me to my first basketball game. I am a Washington Wizards fan and he bought me tickets to their last home game.
They were playing against the Toronto Raptors, when Chris Bosh was still on the team. We rode to DC that day and before the game, he took me to the Potomic Mills mall and to Chilli's to eat. Once at the game, I was able to take pictures and shake hands with a couple of the players. This memory will live with me forever, because my first professional game was with my dad.
My best memory with my father is going water skiing. He taught me how to ski when I was just five. My older brother and sister helped. At first I didn't let go of the rope when I fell so I was being pulled underwater and could have drowned.
But, I eventually caught on and let go. My dad always drove the boat and always made sure we had a boat so we could ski behind it. That is the memory of my father that sticks out most in my mind.
