Father's Day is the day to celebrate fatherhood and paternal bonds. It is a special day to celebrate the good that Fathers do all year round. Though the day may not include a traditional celebration like other holidays, children do many things to show they appreciate their Father. One thing done is to give a card.
Whether homemade or store-bought, the words in the cards help the Father feel valued to their family. Another way to celebrate Father's Day is to do something nice, like cook the Father his favorite meal, wash his car, or treat him with his favorite hobby, like playing golf. These are some of the many ways Father's Day can be celebrated.

Father's Day is a national event or is at least advertised as one. But, the sad fact is, many people have fathers who weren't active parts of their lives. Statistics prove as much, especially in the United States where the special day originated.
It is said that a group of church women took mother's day cards into prison and so many wanted them to send to their mother, they ran out. So, they stocked up for father's day and went back. Only a few wanted them. That tells you that those who don't have active fathers in their lives can easily have problems that land them in trouble, like a prison. That is why father's day isn't celebrated by many - many have fathers they don't feel deserve a card.
