World Environment Day was launched in 1972 by the United Nations General Assembly on the opening day of the Stockholm Summit on the human environment. In 1974, the first World Environment Day celebration was held annually on June 5th.
Every year since, and in 1987, the idea for conducting these activities through the choosing of different global host countries began. Over time, businesses and corporations began to give money to charities to further the cause. For almost five decades, World Environment Day has been helping to educate people about what is becoming of our planet and ways to slow down or prevent its degradation.
The correct answer to this question is the UN General Assembly. They came up with this day in 1972. The purpose of the day is to bring awareness to the environment that was slowly being damaged due to the effects of humans over time. The UN General Assembly created this day in 1972, but the first day did not take place until two years later in 1974.
When the day does come around, there is a different host of the day, as well as different themes. No matter where the host location is or what the theme of the day is, World Environment Day still holds the significance of promoting keeping our home clean.

World Environment Day was started in 1972 by the UN General Assembly. They started the day because they wanted to do their part in protecting the environment that is being damaged every day. Though the day was established in 1972, it was not until 1974 when the first actual day took place. Each year, there is a different theme and a different host location.
Regardless of the theme or host location, the day is still important all the time because we must protect the environment so everyone can live safely. This doesn't just include the people who are here not, but also our future generations to come.

World Environment Day is a day established to help the environment. Over time, especially when the Industrial Revolution began, the things that humans do hurt the environment. When the Industrial Revolution began, many factories were created and they polluted the air and water significantly. Over time, people became aware that these things were hurting the environment. It made it difficult to breathe and they saw that their once beautiful lakes and ponds were now brown with pollution.
People wanted to do something about the environment. In 1972, the UN General Assembly established the World Environment Day. It wasn’t until a couple of years later in 1974 that the first World Environment Day actually took place. There are different themes for each year.
