Some people may become confused with the differences between works cited and bibliography. Works cited is usually a list of the different works that you have quoted in order to complete the document or file that you have made. When citing your source, you need to follow the style that you are required to follow. Some popular citing styles are APA and Harvard.
Reference is also known as the reference list. You need to list down all of the references that you have used to create the document that you are presenting. You need to place the right title and you also have to make sure that you will list down all of the sources alphabetically otherwise, this may not be considered.
There is no differences between Works cited and Bibliography. Works cited and Bibliography are mostly used by students when carrying out research works. Works cited and Bibliography have some similarities because they are usually written at the back of a published book. Works cited is a particular section at the back of research work, it is usually written on a separate page. Works cited is used to make records of different sources you got your information from, during research making process.
When you are carrying out your researches, you are expected to list various places you got your information, either those ones you copied directly or those ones you have rephrased. Bibliography, on the other hand, is a page at the end of a book which contains different articles or books that are used in relation to a research work. Irrelevant works or articles should not be listed in the bibliography.
Many people confuse the difference between a bibliography and works cited. There are; however, some significant fundamental differences between the two. First, a bibliography is strictly a list of books and sources used to research a topic. It may lead someone to research the subject further as well. Works cited; however, is a filtered list of actual works that may have been mentioned throughout a paper.
It will often involve paraphrasing or referring to something particular. It should never, however, involve plagiarism. Works cited page requires parenthetical documentation, whereas a bibliography is more used as a reference point. Bibliographies include all sources, but there is no documentation of the sources within a bibliography.
