LCD, which means Liquid Crystal Display, is an example of a flat panel display. There are other examples of flat panel displays. The differences between LCD and Flat panel will be discussed in relation to other flat panel displays available. Plasma, LED, OLED are also examples of flat panel. LCD screens are very popular because they consume less energy, they are very thin when compared with other flat panel screens. LCD, as popular as it is, cannot be used for displays that are too big, but that does not mean you cannot get LCD of big sizes, just that they have higher prices compared to other flat panel screens of the same size.
LCD screens are best for relatively small devices because it gives a better resolution and it comes with a very low price compared to other flat panel screens. However, as good as LCD screens are, the major problem with them is that, they cannot really be used in building up big devices that need big screens.
