Are you confused about the difference between rye bread and pumpernickel bread? Some people even assume that these two are the same when they are different from each other. Rye bread is made of the endosperm ground floor. The flour that is used for pumpernickel is whole berry ground flour. Pumpernickel is also known to be sweeter as compared to rye bread probably because it would need to be baked longer.

Knowing the difference between Rye bread and Pumpernickel bread can be confusing especially when you are buying one of the two for the first time. The seemingly differences between Rye bread and pumpernickel bread is actually in the composition of each bread. Rye bread is made from a flour made by grinding the endosperm of rye berries. Rye bread are of different types, we have dark rye bread, light and marble rye bread. These bread are made from adding coloring and flavor to the flour.

While pumpernickel bread is made by using a particular flour known as pumpernickel flour. This flour is made by grinding the whole of rye berries. In making pumpernickel bread, rye bread can also be added to pumpernickel flour. Pumpernickel bread is usually dark unlike rye bread which can be divided into three forms i. e light, dark and marble rye bread. Pumpernickel bread are sweeter than rye bread due to the fact that, pumpernickel bread are made with strong flavoring.
