There are two types of treatments that are used to treat the pain that may be caused by some vertebral compression fractures. The two techniques are useful, but some people may get more advantages when they choose one type of treatment over the other.
In Kyphoplasty, the balloon will be placed in the vertebral body first. This will make it easier for the doctor to create a cavity wherein the cement will be placed that will supposedly reduce the amount of pain that the person is feeling. In Vertebroplasty, the cement is injected into the backbones of the person who is getting this type of treatment.
These are known as two techniques that are used on the bones. Vertebroplasty is a technique wherein bone cement is usually injected under pressure. Kyphoplasty will make sure that there will be a cavity that will be available so that bone cement can pass through properly.
Take note that these techniques are used to get rid of the pain that may be experienced by people for their vertebral fractures. A lot of patients usually feel better within 24 to 48 hours. This will make people start to feel some comfort once again, especially if they have been feeling uncomfortable for a long time because of their injury.
