Shocks and struts are essential to drive smoothly. Shocks and struts also provides a good suspension for the vehicle, thus making driving perfect and comfortable. Shocks and struts are mostly mistaken for themselves, and some believe they are the same. But that is actually not true because they have differences in their functions and designs. While on motion, shocks absorb bumps from the road, while a well formed integral part of the suspension is the strut.

Another function of the strut is that it serves as pivot for steering rack, and helps in the replacement of the upper arm control. Shocks, however, help to make driving smooth and also make the resonant vibration wet. The struts are located at the front part of the vehicle, while shocks are located at the rare part of the vehicle. The car can still be driven without shocks, but it is impossible to drive without struts. Thus, struts are more important than shocks in a vehicle.

The two words, "Shocks and Struts" have been known to be used interchangeably. Shocks and struts are tools that work independently, but do the same primary job on a vehicle: weaken the movement of the spring and end its vibration and bounce. Although they perform the same job, a shock cannot perform the work of a strut and vice versa.

The two words,
This is due to the fact that a vehicle's wheel will either have a strut or a shock; it can never have both. Every vehicle was structured with either shocks or struts, and the suspension of the vehicle cannot be modified to use the other. The significant difference between the Shock and the strut is that a strut is a structural part of the vehicle's suspension system, whereas a shock is not. A strut is also a crucial part of the vehicle's steering system and greatly affects the alignment angles. A strut is also a pivot angle for the vehicle's steering, whereas, the Shock weakens the spring oscillations. Without a shock absorber, the springs on a car will cause it to bounce around repeatedly every time it gets knocked or makes a turn.
