Plasma is actually one of the components of blood. This is the liquid portion of blood so it is obvious that blood and plasma are not the same. It is the responsibility of the plasma to carry the red and white blood cells together with the platelets throughout the body.
People may not realize how important plasma is even if it composed of mostly water. It makes a lot of difference with how the body works for sure. Some people will donate blood but there are also some who will only donate plasma. The process of getting blood and plasma are similar but when plasma is needed, it will be stripped off from the rest of the blood.
Blood is a significant component of the transport system of the body. It helps in the circulation of nutrients and oxygen. The blood is colored red by the presence of hemoglobin. It is generated from the bone marrow, pumped by the heart and conveyed by the arteries and veins.
There are four major blood groups – A, B, AB, and O. Plasma is the clear liquid component of the blood. It is what is left when Red and White blood cells have been taken out. It consists of about 55% of the blood volume. It consists mainly of water, and other substances such as minerals, enzymes, salts, and proteins.
