The major difference between fact and myth is the ability to gather scientific evidence to support a fact.
Myths are often derived through word of the mouth or the reliance on being passed down from generation to generation.

An example of myths is the belief of eating hot pepper cures flu. This does have any scientific backup but has passed from generation to generation. Another example of myths is Greek or Roman mythology.

Facts are derived often from an accident by gathering evidence to explain something. Facts are more detailed and explained than myths and most times they are evidence-based. A fact can be proven or disproved.

Facts and myths are two ways to describe statements. A fact is something that is true. This fact is true based on some type of study or research that has proven it to be true. A myth is something that has not been proven to be true.

Many times a myth is something that has never been true, but there is a chance that a myth can be proven as true and later on become a fact. It is very easy to differentiate between a myth and a fact. Myths are often believed by many, but when you dig deeper, there are not enough facts to back it up. Facts can be easily backed up with information and research

The main difference between fact and myth is that facts must be researched and proven as accurate to be considered as fact, while myths have been passed down from one generation to another but have not been verified as fact.

The best example of this is when people once thought the world was flat. With further examination and study, people have begun to believe that the world is round, and once it was proven, it was accepted as fact.

Greek or Roman mythology were stories passed down, and they were told to help explain something that could not be verified through scientific reasoning. Facts are procured from evidence, while myths come in the form of a story.

Facts are statements about anything, which have been agreed upon by a substantial number of experts. Facts are mostly products of scientific discoveries. The word fact refers to something real, actual as opposed to invented.

Myths are simply traditional stories about some phenomenon of experience, which many people believe to be true. In other words, myths are false facts. The main difference between myths and facts is that myths do not have a scientific backup, while facts always have a scientific backup. It is important to note that most things we see as facts today were once seen as myths.

Facts will give you details about something, whereas myths are usually supported by stories. In other words, facts are things that can be explained, whereas myths do not really give explanations but stories. However, most things we consider as myths might later become facts in the future.

A fact is something that has been deemed truthful based on some scientific studies. A myth is something that is not proven to be true at the present time. Some even say that a myth is not true at all. Nothing is sure until it is exactly proven but by the time that this happens, the myth may become a fact.

Take note that myths and facts can be easily recognized if you know what to look for. Myths are widely believed but there are not enough details that will prove that it is true. Facts are proven by science and may come with studies and research in order to back it up.
