Both of these beverages are produced by the Coca-Cola Company and might even have the same taste to some. But Regular Coke and Diet Coke have big differences. Firstly, the sweeteners used are not the same. Regular coke uses sugar made from corn syrup that contains high fructose. While diet coke, on the other hand, uses aspartame, an artificial sweetener for its taste.
Because of aspartame, diet coke contains fewer calories and is safer to drink by people with diabetes than regular coke. People who are used to drinking regular coke find diet cokes to have a bland taste. This is because diet coke does not contain sugar just like the regular coke.
