What is the difference between Tone and Pitch?

Tone and pitch are both associated with music. Pitch is closely related to tone, and to have a pitch; one must have a certain degree of tone. The word tone refers to the quality of sound pertaining to the voice of a singer, as well as the sound of an instrument like a piano or guitar.

Pitch is the degree of the tone, which an either be high or low. Tone normally has a positive connotation to it, while pitch can be either negative or positive. For instance, if a person says someone is pitchy, that can mean the tone is there, but the notes are either too high or too low.

Pitch refers to the degree of lowness or highness of a tone while the tone refers to the sound quality of a singing voice or musical instrument. For example, two persons might have a low speaking voice but when they sing, one might have a glass-sound voice while the other has a croaking voice.

Or, you might also notice that generally, your speaking voice is low but when you get excited or mad, the pitch of your voice will be higher than your usual. When you are singing, you may find hitting the low and high notes easily or hard depending on your tone, and how you will deliver the song well.
