Black bears and Brown bears are widely populated in Alaska. Brown bears or Grizzly bears are often bigger than the Black bear as they can grow up to 1,500 pounds. Brown bears residing in the southeast part of Alaska can get bigger compared to the Brown bears in Alaska interior due to the abundance of salmon on that part of the state.
Black bears usually have shorter nails compared to Brown bears to help them climb trees. Brown bears excavate animals that burrow themselves in their holes, the reason they have long nails. The ears of the black bears are more prominent than of the brown bear as you can see them sticking straight up.
