Pneumonia refers to lung inflammation that can arise due to chemical injury, infection by viruses, bacteria, fungi, or aspiration of foodstuffs into the lungs. This inflammation can lead to high fever with shivering, shaking, chills, severe cough, loss of appetite, and weight. It is a bacterial, viral, or fungal infection in one or both lungs. It causes inflammation of the alveoli.
Lung abscess occurs when the tissues are affected by a bacterial infection, which foreshadows the necrosis or the death of the lung. In lung abscess, the lung tissue is demolished, and a cavity filled with pus is formed, while pneumonia demonstrates inflammation. The treatment for a lung abscess is drainage of pus for an abscess, and cases of pneumonia are treated with antibiotics alone.
