This is a rare disease that only occurs one in every five thousand births. That is much lower and less likely to happen than Down’s Syndrome. Edward’s Syndrome is a disorder that is dangerous because there is a much greater chance that the baby will die within the first year of their birth. The baby who has Edward’s Syndrome may have a small head, small jaw, severe intellectual disabilities, and fists with overlapping fingers. Even though many parents worry during the pregnancy that their baby will have a disorder, this disorder is very rare. To compare, Down’s Syndrome babies only make up 1% of the population and there are one baby in 500 births that a baby will have Down’s Syndrome.
