Most of the time, there is an intellectual disability involved in babies who are born with Down Syndrome. Statistically speaking, a baby with Down Syndrome will have a 99% chance of having a mental impairment and a good chance of having an intellectual disability. However, that is not to say that babies with Down Syndrome can’t function in life or in school.
Schools today, now have programs designed for students who struggle intellectually. The school’s program may include making sure that the children can learn life skills so that they can function in life. Then they are taught job skills. Many will have on-the-job training so that they can continue to work that job on an individual basis and make money on their own.
