Down Syndrome is a disorder that has been around for many years. It is a common disorder that is only considered to be common because people are aware of the disorder. It actually doesn’t take place as often as people may think. It can be detected at birth and actually while the mother is pregnant with a test.

The test is not fool-proof. This means that sometimes there are women who are tested as positive for carrying a baby with Down Syndrome, but then the test produced false results once the woman gives birth to the baby. Once the baby has been detected, the woman can at least prepare for the birth. Before, women did not know if their child had a disability until the baby was born.
