Babies and children with Down Syndrome certainly live longer than they used to before the 1960s. Now they can live to be about in their mid-40s which is really not long compared to those people who live without Down Syndrome. There are other factors that may cause babies with Down Syndrome to not live as long as others. These include those babies with Down Syndrome who are African American.
These babies have a lower chance of survival. Those infants with Down Syndrome that also have other medical issues also have a lower chance of survival. Many people without Down Syndrome live to be in their 70s and 80s. So, those who live to be in their mid-40s do not live long lives.
