When did online blogging become popular?

It seems that everyone reads blogs. They either have their own blog, read other blogs or comment on them. It seems that there is no one that hasn’t done one of those three things. However, there was a time when there was no such thing as a blog. Shortly after the Internet was built, websites evolved and then people realized that they could create their own blogs on their own.

They didn’t need much if any money to create these blogs and they could do this on their own time. It didn’t take much time to build their blog and it was easy to do. Blogging began in 1990s, but it became very popular among the average person in the early 2000s and late 1990s.
