Maritime archaeology is also known as marine archaeology. It is the quest to find relics from the sea of long ago and other important things. It is actually considered to be a discipline within the realm of archaeology which relates to human interaction and studies with bodies of water like the sea, lakes and the rivers by applying the study of any type of physical remains like human parts, vessels, facilities by the shore, port-related buildings and boats and cargoes.
This discipline can actually be more grueling and dangerous than regular work on dry land because of the challenges and dangers of the sea. Those who work in this type of field must be very well versed at sea such as not being sea sick and usually must be able to dive and swim too.
